Episode 89: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) Live at the Brickwall Tavern

Rundown

If there's one thing the world of horror needs, it's a movie where an undead killer stalks teenagers on a boat that can teleport from a closed lake to the open ocean. Really, there MUST be a market for that, right? To the people clambering for such a film, we bestow upon you this live discussion of Friday the 13th VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989), taped at the Brickwall Tavern in Burlington, New Jersey - that's close enough to NYC, right? Matt and Scott are joined by punk rock supervillain Johnny Neutrino, whose last name Matt battles the entire episode. If you missed the HMN crew at Monster Mania 36, here's your chance to get in on that strangely bloodless teen-killing massacre of a weekend. You're at a bar with friends and weirdos are on stage making somewhat inappropriate jokes, better make it a double for this week's (live) episode of Horror Movie Night!

More Live Episodes

Well, we did it, y'all. We talked about all of the TCM movies applicable to the show. Our fourth and final listener submitted pick is TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 3: LEATHERFACE (1990), and is the mirror opposite of last week's fantastic 3rd installment in the COTC series in pretty much all possible ways. Recorded live at Creature Feature Weekend in Gettysburg PA with our friend Joshua, we even have the listener who suggested it (Eli B.) come up and read his email/defend this abomination of a film! If you couldn't get enough phallic chainsaw imagery with our PIECES discussion, here's your chance for another helping of questionable content.

In March, Matt and Scott teamed up with Stephen of Analog Jones to record some live episodes, and this week showcases the first of the "threevening" discussions, the inimitable Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth from 1992! It's got the coolest goth club the early 90s had to offer, Puzzle Box architecture and the worst (best?) Cenobite ever, CD Cenobite. It also features arguably the best Pinhead portrayal and soliloquies. Relive the weirdness of the lesser Hellraiser sequels this week on Horror Movie Night - live!

Matt and Scott were joined by Stephen of Analog Jones at Monster-Mania in NJ this spring and decided to make a "threevening" of it by discussing Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors! This is the second live episode recorded after Mania, and we can happily report that no one has their tendons ripped out to be used as marionette strings or gets called bitch by a TV. Join us for another live episode of Horror Movie Night!
