Episode 227: Scrooged (1988)
As is HMN Christmas tradition, we are taking a slight break from the usual picks and getting festive with some ghosts, desiccated corpse bosses, and a whole lotta yelling; we're talking SCROOGED (1988)! Matt strong-armed us into this one, since apparently it would be frowned upon to just do Batman Returns every Christmas like a true American. It could be worse, your lip could be gushing blood (thanks to Carol Kane ripping your frenulum)!
Episode 226: Friday the 13th Part 6 - Jason Lives (1986)
Listen, if you dig up the corpse of the guy who terrorized and traumatized you as a kid, stick an iron rod in his chest that then gets struck by lightning, reanimating said corpse, you might not want to try your hand at gambling. You may have noticed today's date, which informed Matt's pick this week, the immortal JASON LIVES (1986), one of the most enjoyable entries in the Friday the 13th franchise. If you were unimpressed with the fire circle in Octaman, Tommy Jarvis has a much more impressive one and it's on a freakin lake... Jump in, the water is crystal clear!
Episode 225: Psycho 4: The Beginning (1990)
Norman Bates, the killer whose origin was never really necessary to be told in-depth, but here we are, having watched and discussed a whole movie about it, PSYCHO IV: THE BEGINNING (1990). Brian's picks are often inscrutable, and this one is the very definition of the word; his catchphrase really sells this one: "Well, it's a movie."
Episode 224: There's Nothing Out There (1991)
If you were wondering whether we're tired of meta horror yet, here's your answer: nope! Matt chose a real banger this week, the alien-frog-with-laser-eyes romp THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE (1992). There are punks, bros, hot ladies, skinny-dipping, a ridiculous monster with even more ridiculous weaknesses, and even a boom mic getaway. This one is a cult classic for a reason, and it's save to say it checks all of the HMN boxes!
Episode 223: Blood Rage (1987)
This Thanksgiving, it's not just animal carcasses that will be served up... We are re-discussing the delightful holiday slasher BLOOD RAGE (1987), once a lost episode, but now a new conversation on quite possibly the only Thanksgiving horror movie out there (we don't acknowledge Thankskilling round these parts). Let our gravyboat voices moisten your mashed potato ears as your prepare a feast for your loved ones, but be careful, that's not cranberry sauce!
Episode 222: Octaman (1971)
We see a lot of amazing creature designs and practical effects on HMN, so sometimes it's nice to take a step back and see our SFX heroes' humble beginnings...like the ridiculously dumb Rick Baker monstrosity, OCTAMAN (1971)! More or less a lower-budget, less skilled retelling of the Creature From the Black Lagoon (written by the same guy), this one is 100% due to its moment of glory in Gremlins 2: The New Batch, so thanks for that, Brian. Between the three of us, we only have 6 arms to fight Octaman's 8, wish us luck!
Episode 221: Return to Horror High (1987)
It's not every day we get to introduce a new podcast on the Geekscape Network, but this isn't everyday! And to sweeten the deal, we're discussing another meta horror flick from the rapidly-dwindling list of meta horror films that we haven't hit yet: the charmingly goofy RETURN TO HORROR HIGH (1987). Our guest is Bacon from 19 Donkey Lane, a fantasy/comedy show that you really need to do yourself a favor and check out. Also, bonus George Clooney sighting in the movie, schwing!
Episode 220: May (2003)
It's finally happened: Scott had a pick fall on Halloween, and his dream of discussing awkward brunettes and their creepy dolls came truuuuuuue! We snuggle up to the one and only MAY (2002), which most forget is seasonally-appropriate - and we're here to remind you forever. Brian somehow didn't watch it, even with a week extension, so Matt and Scott do their best to explain the plot to him, which sort of works a little bit. Fill your cooler with some cold ones and get spooky with us for the best day of the year, we promise we won't criticize your kissing skills.
Episode 219: Trick R Treat (2007)
It's Halloween week and time for our last horror anthology, so of course we pulled out the big guns with 2007's TRICK R TREAT! We are joined by Jason of Creepy Co, and spend the entire episode just gushing about what a great piece of entertainment this one is. We also get into a nice tangent about Super Troopers, so don't worry, still on-brand for us. Make sure your jack-o-lantern is lit all night long, just in case!
Episode 218: Tales from the Hood (1995)
It's week three of October, and time for a heavy sociopolitical discussion that Matt has been dreaming of having since before HMN's inception: 1995's depressingly-still-relevant TALES FROM THE HOOD! This is one of the more difficult films for a show like ours to discuss, so hopefully we navigate the treacherous waters well enough to not sound like total idiots. This is one of the best horror anthologies out there, and still required viewing in 2019 - Clarence Williams III commands you!
Episode 217: The House That Dripped Blood (1972)
For our second October anthology movie, Brian once again shows how inscrutable his tastes are by hitting us with 1971's ironically bloodless THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD. After Matt and Scott rip this one to shred, Brian explains that he plans to start his future children with this kind of movie on their horror journeys; so basically his kids won't be horror fans after all...
Episode 216: Necronomicon: Book of the Dead (1993)
It's October, and we're lifting our moratorium on anthologies for one month only, starting with the oddly forgotten NECRONOMICON: BOOK OF THE DEAD (1993), directed by the immortal Brian Yuzna, Christophe Gans, and Shusuke Kaneko! We are joined by Cyborg Joe of THE LETHAL WEAPONS all the way from Japan, your new favorite band and you just don't know it yet. The star of the film is obviously Bruce Campbell, I mean Jeffrey Combs' prosthetic nose, but there's also a sick body melt (hey, it's the TGRI guy!), sea monsters, and bat-aliens with brains in their tummies. It's a good time all around, as Joe and the guys can attest (Brian is just a grump). Strap in for a month of anthologies, as well as 907.185kg of bonus content because it's Halloweentime finally and fuck the customary system - metric 4 life!
Episode 215: Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1990) (Live at Creature Feature Weekend)
Well, we did it, y'all. We talked about all of the TCM movies applicable to the show. Our fourth and final listener submitted pick is TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 3: LEATHERFACE (1990), and is the mirror opposite of last week's fantastic 3rd installment in the COTC series in pretty much all possible ways. Recorded live at Creature Feature Weekend in Gettysburg PA with our friend Joshua, we even have the listener who suggested it (Eli B.) come up and read his email/defend this abomination of a film! If you couldn't get enough phallic chainsaw imagery with our PIECES discussion, here's your chance for another helping of questionable content.
Episode 214: Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (1995)
You know you're from the Midwest when you're more disgusted watching a man eat a raw ear of corn like a goddamn savage than by the insane corn monster swallowing teenagers whole. Our 3rd listener submitted pick is CHILDREN OF THE CORN III: URBAN SACRIFICE (1995), and good lord is this movie good! This is 100% USDA organic HMN perfection in celluloid form, and we just can't say enough nice things about it. If you haven't seen it, THIS is the one that gets the show stamp of approval! Though we're left to wonder if Screaming Mad George has ever actually SEEN an ear of corn...
Episode 213: Pieces (1982)
We've got our boy Kyle Kuchta back with us on the show and we just love him to PIECES... like the infamous Italian video nasty from 1982 some of us had a great time watching, and then there's Scott. We put our heads together to finish the nudie puzzle, because let's face it, the crotch is always the most confusing part. It's amazing that any of us have ever felt the touch of a woman.
Episode 212: BoogeyMan 2 (2007)
It's Listener Submitted Month, and we're kicking it off with a huge mistake on everyone's part, the abysmal BOOGIEMAN 2 (2007). Imagine everything you love about Dream Warriors, take away the charm, talent and budget, and maybe, just maybe you end up with this movie. Your hosts have about 1 compliment a piece for this one, and spend the rest of the episode in total regret for their life choices. Witness the misery inflicted by Horror Movie Night listeners all month, starting....NOW!
Episode 211: The Creeps (1997)
It's been a while since the last time we got to fawn over Phil Fondacaro's charm, so Brian did us the favor of picking THE CREEPS (1997), also known by the incredibly insensitive alternate title DEFORMED MONSTERS! Is this the worst acting we've ever seen on Horror Movie Night? Matt thinks so, but he also seems to forget about TERROR TOONS and DRIVE THRU... Watch as diminutive versions of the Universal Monsters terrorize people who took half of an acting class, possibly while drunk or half asleep. It's kind of like watching THE MONSTER SQUAD in the wrong aspect ratio. Or nothing like that at all, we can't tell anymore.
Episode 210: Cherry Falls (2000)
If you're like us, you were a weird virgin in high school who probably went through a dizzying amount of hand lotion for mysterious reasons Mom didn't want to acknowledge. Come with us on a journey down Memory Lane, which dead ends at CHERRY FALLS (2000), this week's decidedly un-erotic slasher about teens banging their way away from a cross-dressing Jay Mohr. The nostalgia factor is running about as high as our hormones in 2000, but hopefully our desperation doesn't scare you away like the overpowering cologne we borrowed from someone after gym. Just like us, please?????
Episode 209: The Last Shark (1981)
In Matt's continuing efforts to make his friends watch questionable giant killer animal movies, he has chosen THE LAST SHARK from 1981 to punish Brian and Scott with this week, and hoo boy. This film was such a blatant JAWS ripoff, that it was pulled from US theaters, which would've inadvertently saved dozens of people from wasting their time and money on watching it in 1981. But thanks to the digital age, here we are, wasting time and money watching and discussing a movie where a rubber shark drags an entire helicopter into the ocean. Summer's almost over, and so is your chance to get that beach bod toned up by a few chomps from a Great White!
Episode 208: Puppet Master 4 (1993)
We're heading back to the killer doll well to talk alien demons, robot laser tag and the diminishing returns of Full Moon franchises with PUPPET MASTER 4! We are joined by our buddy Vincent DeSanti of Womp Stomp Films (director and Jason in the fantastic NEVER HIKE ALONE), who drunkenly agreed to tackle this pick with us at Pop Rock N Horror con earlier this summer. He may have the silkiest voice you've ever heard on our show, so bring a towel, he gon make u sweat.
Episode 207: Amityville 1992 - It's About Time (1992)
Just when you thought you had escaped the mediocrity of the Amityville Horror franchise, we remind you that things got really weird once the evil in the house started possessing random decorations. The clock is ticking, so join our discussion about AMITYVILLE 1992: IT'S ABOUT TIME! There's the dad from Monster Squad, the girl from PCU, and an old lady gets speared through the chest with a stork statue. Read that again. STORK. STATUE. KILL. That's about all we need to get a good episode out of this one, but rest assured, there's more to talk about than just that. But really. Stork statue kill.
Episode 206: It's Alive III: Island of the Alive (1987)
On another installment of "It's A Movie," your boys at HMN hit the beach and bring home some blood-thirsty mutant babies with Larry Cohen's classic (?) IT'S ALIVE 3: ISLAND OF THE ALIVE (1987). There's a whole lot of Michael Moriarty chewing scenery, some stop-motion really doing it for Matt, and some real Troma-esque rubber suit fighting under the pier near the end. It's got everything a summer blockbuster needs....right? Squeeze out some sunscreen for us so we don't get burned any more than we already did with this week's pick on Horror Movie Night!
Episode 205: Killjoy (2000)
It's no secret we relish bad horror movies on the show, but sometimes even bad horror can be in bad taste. Take, for example, this week's urban clown demon mess KILLJOY (2000). Even with a runtime of just over an hour, this one was pretty painful for everyone, so thanks for that, Brian. Watching it as an anti-drug PSA at points may help viewers avoid smoking hell-joints that look like Pepperidge Farm Pirouettes or buying drugs from a pointy-toothed clown with stupid hair. Maybe. Get lit and listen to us try to unravel this low-budget mystery on another episode of Horror Movie Night!
Episode 204: Hellraiser IV - Bloodline (1996)
In space.... no one can help you solve a demonic Rubik's Cube. That's why you build a robot that will eventually get exploded (to it's hilarious surprise)! We're talking Cenobites in space this week with HELLRAISER: BLOODLINE (1996), and there are a lot fewer corsets in the Age of Enlightenment flashbacks than Scott remembered. We console ourselves though with some demo-dogs and the less-well-known Twisted Twins, which are actually pretty progressive for a couple mid-90s security guards - good for you, Twin Cenobites! Strap in for one hell of an afterburner with your favorite masters of pain on another episode of Horror Movie Night!
Episode 203: Child's Play 2 (1991)
In our continued efforts to discuss every killer doll movie ever made, as well as to coincide with the reboot now in theaters, your hosts revisited some kinder-trauma with 1990's CHILD'S PLAY 2! We come to a general consensus that this is the best entry in the series, though maybe not everyone's favorite (ahem Brian), and spend the entire episode gushing over how good the Chucky effects look. We're all smile because we have a friend til the end this week and forevermore here on Horror Movie Night!
Episode 202: The Curse III: Blood Sacrifice (1990)
Episode 201: House of Wax (2005)
Episode 200: Beetlejuice (1988)
Holy s-word, y'all - we've officially hit 200 episodes! In celebration (and to finally relieve Brian of his Six Degrees of Michael Keaton duties, we're cracking open our Handbook for the Recently Deceased and calling upon the ghost with the most, the one and only BEETLEJUICE (1988)!
Episode 199: The Boneyard (1991)
In a world full of hot scientists (aka actress/models wearing glasses and a tight bun), be a dumpy retired psychic detective in earthtones, like the protagonist in THE BONEYARD (1991). While most of the movie is like celluloid Lunesta, there IS a giant mutant Phyllis Diller monster, a giant mutant poodle monster, and some pretty gross-looking zombie children. Lots of gooey goodness to be had as long as you're diligent with that fast forward button. Come cackle with us like crazy old women in wigs on another episode of Horror Movie Night!
Episode 198: Out of the Dark (1988)
If there's one thing we love on this show, it's John Waters and killer clowns. Wait, that's 2 things. I guess you could say we hate math here too. In any case, we are tackling the fantastic and tragically forgotten OUT OF THE DARK (1989), which prominently features a clown-masked phone sex pervert, Divine's last film before passing away, and a totally unrealistic photo-shoot replete with fog machine and seizure-inducing freeze frames. It's even better than it sounds, and we want to...shed some light on the darkness surrounding this piece of cinema. Save up your quarters and grab some tissues, this week we're dialing 1-800-HMN-BOIS
Episode 197: Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Next Generation
He swore if we ever covered this movie he'd have no choice but to return as a guest on this show; and he's a man of his word! This week we are joined by Kyle Kuchta to discuss his favorite movie TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE NEXT GENERATION. The film is jam-packed with craziness as well as Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey for good measure.
Episode 196: The Rage: Carrie II (1999)
We walk a thin line with the movies discussed on the show, one balancing nostalgia with the reality of b (and sometimes z) grade horror. Often, the former cannot even out the latter, but not this week. No, this week, we discuss CARRIE 2: THE RAGE from 1999 and it's somehow better now than it was when it was first released. If you avoid comparing it to Brian De Palma's original, this is a well-executed sequel with a LOT of great kills. Put on your party dress (red, of course) and cut loose with your bros in Horror Movie Night!
Episode 195: BloodRayne (2006)
Hey creeps, we had such a good time with Listener Submitted Month that we decided to extend it by a week, and boy do we regret this decision! Uwe Boll is never a good choice, but 2005's BLOODRAYNE is a special kind of banality that only an all-star cast and a couple pounds of ketamine can provide. Watch in amazement as Billy Zane, Michael Madsen, Michelle Rodriguez, Meatloaf Aday, Michale Paré, Udo Kier, and freaking BEN KINGSLEY try to make sense of this godawful vampire flick based on the much cooler video game. For the love of all things unholy, the costume designer of this movie needs to have their skin flayed like Frank in Hellraiser for falling asleep at the sewing machine. God damn this movie sucks. Enjoy our pain on this week's episode of Horror Movie Night!
Episode 194 - Leviathan (1989)
Rounding out Listener Submitted Month, we head to the bottom of the ocean to shoot some hoops and get sexually harassed by Daniel Stern with 1989's LEVIATHAN! Robocop meets The Thing in the Abyss is all you need to know, but creature features with practical effects and some gnarly body horror are like abeetz (Brian's pronunciation of pizza) - even when it's bad, it's still good. There are a slew of bad decisions onscreen and off, particularly in the last 2min of the film, but discussing this one bright and early at Monster-Mania while Brian lounged seductively in bed was certainly a highlight of the weekend. Say AH, mother-effers!
Episode 193: Cheerleader Camp (1988)
Which show has the charming gay? HMN, HMN, hey hey hey! That's right, we're back with another Listener Submitted Month movie, and are joined by the lovely Joshua from our friends at Fright School. Together, we talk about pom-poms, spanx and sex pests in the obscure slasher CHEERLEADER CAMP (1988). Is it good? Maybe? Is it bad? Sorta, but we all agreed that it was entertaining in its way. We hope your routine is memorized, sister!
Episode 192: Nocturna (1979)
Anyone who says disco is dead has obviously never seen disco-spoiltation vampire flicks featuring a belly-dancing granddaughter of Dracula (Nai Bonet), a geriatric Vlad with fang dentures (John Carradine), his previous girlfriend (Yvonne DeCarlo), Brother Theodore as a rapey werewolf, a male lead that basically looks like He-Man before the sword powers, and at least one Playboy model. NOCTURNA (1979) is... something, we guess? We tackle this one live at Monster-Mania with Marissa, the other half of the Jersey Ghouls, and then turn to cartoon bats as dawn breaks. Cue funky bassline!
Episode 191: Subspecies (1991)
Full Moon Pictures is like the Bloodstone of cheesy horror, always dribbling out something to satisfy us at Horror Movie Night, and this week, we're talking SUBSPECIES (1991) with Jackie of Jersey Ghouls fame! The Draculas are out in force and we sort of talk about the film while enjoying each other's real-life company at Monster-Mania this March. Sink your fangs into our nubile, pasty flesh, we don't mind...
Episode 190: Night of the Comet (1984)
Post-apocalyptic blues got you down? What better way to cheer up than to hang out at the radio station blasting tunes and having a shopping spree at the mall?? Kelli Maroni just can't keep away from those places, and we tagged along with her in NIGHT OF THE COMET and brought the immortal J-Tro (Jason Trost) with us! We talk 80s culture, the dangers of nostalgia, and his upcoming sequel FP2: BEATS OF RAGE. If you haven't turned to piles of Tang already, hang out with us as we awkwardly attempt to repopulate Earth!
Episode 189: Graveyard Shift (1990)
Why are there no porn plots where a busty lady has a rodent problem and calls an exterminator to clean up, and then when he's done and showing her a giant rat he killed, she pays him in sexual favors? If any aspiring directors out there are into this, you gotta get someone who gives 110% every second on screen like Brad Dourif does in 1990's Stephen King adaption GRAVEYARD SHIFT. These are our terms. In any case, it must suck to share screentime with a juggernaut like Dourif when you can barely remember your lines or what it sounds like when humans talk, and you can get a taste of that by watching everyone else in this film, as they are picked off by a gigantic rat/bat monster in delightfully gruesome ways. The Maine accents are pretty confusing, but there's still some meat left on the bone here, so clock in for your shift with Horror Movie Night!
Episode 188: Ninja III: The Domination (1984)
Do you love spirit possessions? How about ninjas? How about V8 sex?? If you've answered yes to any of these questions, or hell, even if you haven't, you're in for a ride with us this week as we discuss the 1984 action/horror/kung fu/aerobics extravaganza NINJA lll: THE DOMINATION! The hairspray and rouge are in full force, as this specific possessed katana imbues its wielder with some serious eyeliner skills. This film has to be seen to be believed, and your boys have got the play by play to keep you jazzercising the black ninja at bay. But beware, we don't USE soda!
Episode 187: Leprachaun 4: In Space (1996)
We talk a lot about the diminishing returns of horror sequels, but the Leprechaun series is easily one of the worst offenders. Exhibit A: 1996's abysmal LEPRECHAUN4: IN SPACE. It's not even fun bad, it's just...low effort and cheap. I mean, the writers didn't even take the time to make Warwick Davis's lines rhyme! But never fear, your trusty tour guides through the shadowy world of questionable horror will take you by the hand and at least bring a bit of good out of this flaming dumpster fire of a flick. That's the Kelly luck o the Irish for ye this St. Paddy's!
Episode 186: The Howling 3: The Marsupials (1987)
Take everything you thought you knew about werewolves, and flip it upside down, because that's how you get to Australia, ya dummy! We're heading for a walkabout in the Outback with quite possibly the strangest lycanthrope movie we've yet seen, 1987's Ozploitation classic Howling lll: The Marsupials! Quick recap, Howling l shows the world that werewolves exist by having Dee Wallace transform on live TV; Howling ll has a lot of oiled up bodies and Cybil Danning looking like she's starring in a Manowar video, and Howling lll throws all that out the window and says, you know what? Werewolves are mystical creatures powered by the spirit of the extinct Tasmanian tiger. It gets weirder from there. Don't believe us? Guess you'll have to listen to the episode, in which Matt and Brian do pretty solid Aussie accents.
Episode 185: Neon Maniacs (1986)
Take the Wicked Witch of the West and make her look grotesque. And have there be a ton of different versions of her. Remove all plot and logic, add a sort of sweet battle of the bands, and you have 1986's almost-a-movie NEON MANIACS! We are joined this week by Mike James of 5 Second Films fame (the geniuses behind one of our recent favorites DUDE BRO PARTY MASSACRE III), who has vowed to fight anyone to the death if they dare to criticize the music in this film. We're not going to argue that...ok maybe just a little, so tune in to see who's left standing and who's a pile of watery green jello under the Golden Gate Bridge on this week's episode of Horror Movie Night!
Episode 184 - Phantom of the Opera (1989)
Remember how much you love Freddy? Well how about a romantic tragedy with way less humor, gore and charm, but still starring the guy behind all that makeup? You're in luck this Valentine's Day, because your HMN boyfriends are making it special with some candles, some roses, and their seductive voices screeching about Robert Englund's lukewarm take on a classic Universal monster, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (1989). There are some solid scenes to be had here, but we agreed that this is one of those films where none of us would have taken the time to watch if not for the show, so let us do all the heavy lifting for you. Cuz lover, tonight is all. About. You.
Episode 183: The Borrower (1991)
The higher powers (aka ancient aliens, duh) have heard our prayers for MORE DECAPITATIONS and granted us the gift of a movie who's only real plot point is an alien stealing human heads. THE BORROWER from 1991 is a delightfully silly little flick that never quite gained enough cult status to be remembered by most of us... and a lot of that probably has to do with it's barely existent storyline about a murderous alien de-evolved down to human form, who stumbles around LA for 80 minutes just snatching heads whenever it needs a new one. Your boys on Horror Movie Night are all about the head trauma, and this baby delivers, so grab a 40 of malt liquor and get crazy with The Borrower!
Episode 182: Cellar Dweller (1988)
As everyone knows, beautiful female artists want nothing more than to rekindle the EC Comics art style and draw panel after panel of women in skimpy clothes and painfully obvious cold rooms terrorized by demonic hordes.... Right? Don't tell us that CELLAR DWELLER (1988) lied to us! Don't blink or you'll miss our boy Jeffy Combs doing his best Patrick Bateman impression in the first 5 minutes of the movie, but if you do, you can kind of fast-forward all the pointless character development in the middle and just get to the good stuff - a doe-eyed rubber suit monster wrecking all these art school weirdos' days and munching on their body parts. There's also a sweet decapitation, so you know your HMN boys are having fun on this week's episode.
Episode 181: Bad Channels (1992)
We're back on our Full Moon game this week and ready to get DANGEROUS on the airwaves with the DANGEROUS! DAAAAAAAN! O! DAAAAAAAARE! We're so hyped to discuss the shock-jock-takes-on-turd-headed-alien classic BAD CHANNELS (1992), that we're dressing up like guitar hero nuns and weird yelling cows just to play a crappy Teen Spirit ripoff in the gym. The acting ain't much, the plot ain't much, the effects are...there, but dammit this movie is like huffing Lysol in the best possible way. There's a lot to discuss, so call in with the correct combination and get us out of these chains!
Episode 180: Smiley (2012)
Listeners of the show will know that we do it all for the lulz, and stay up to date on all the cool lingo and references that fellow kids are using, so it should be no surprise we were super duper golly gosh darn excited to talk about the ultra-hip and totally relatable SMILEY from 2012! There is no way that a slasher movie about Chatroulette, starring Youtube "celebrities" and having zero budget could age poorly, right? Of course not! No real names this week, ok? We're just using our Anonymous handles, which are coincidentally just our real names. Total coincidence.
Episode 179: Bubba Ho-Tep (2002)
We're rockin' and rollin' back into horror territory and takin' care of business with a sneer and a hip thrust. Join us in slobbering all over Bruce Campbell's chin in the fantastic BUBBA HO-TEP (2002)! We are joined this episode by our pal Ralph (@vhsdude/@kaijupod) and are in unanimous agreement that this movie rules and Bruce's Elvis impersonation is pretty damn good, man. Plus, how can you go wrong with a Don Coscarelli flick featuring a mummy cowboy who sucks souls from buttholes? Enjoy as we break out the rusty trombones this week on Horror Movie Night!
Episode 178: Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (1991)
Welcome to the new year, dudes! We're, like, totally stoked to be here in 2019 with our flannel shirts and acid-washed jeans, backwards hats and smoked-out brains, and we're going to play you a bunch of air guitar to celebrate! You voted to give rock and roll to us, in the form of BILL & TED'S BOGUS JOURNEY (though Bill & Ted Go To Hell would've been a much better and more straightforward title). Matt is painfully excited about this one, while Scott is just in pain, and Brian is... well, Brian the peacemaker. Ring in another trip round the sun with your boys in HMN, starting with Alex Winter in disturbing full granny makeup!
You voted and we responded. Wrapping up the year that was 2019 we watch a movie released in 1990 that was reflecting on the 60's... CRY-BABY. John Waters released one of his most mainstream films packed with rock-a-billy songs, awkward kissing and Johnny Depp at his Johnny Dreamiest. Join us on the film episode of HORROR MOVIE NIGHT (where we don't talk about a Horror Movie).
